Team Member Spotlight: Amy Florida
Meet Amy Florida. St. Louis native, yogi, mother of six, coworker, and friend. She came into real estate unexpectedly, already a star in the sales world but logging 60+ hours a week at a desk and feeling frazzled and burnt out.
“What about real estate?,” her husband had asked during their weekly date to Edgewild in Chesterfield.
“It was like a light bulb came on,” Amy shares, “ I was hustling in sales for a long time…and it just didn’t feel like the lifestyle I wanted for my family and for my well-being. I made the decision and was licensed just two weeks later.”
We had the pleasure of sitting down with Amy last week to hear her journey and how that one decision changed the game. Known as Special Agent Florida and one of the top home slingers in the Midwest, read on for our next Team Member Spotlight on our own Amy Florida.
So, how did you get into real estate?
After I was licensed, I landed my first real estate job as a showing agent on a high producing team! I quickly transitioned into doing my own deals and my career really took off from there. I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity real estate has afforded me to help my friends and neighbors move forward with their lives and have fun in the process. There is never a dull moment but that is my jam!
Is there a particular area of the business that you specialize in?
I have found my niche working with investors. Investment properties are incredibly fun! I am able to see homes in a pretty crazy state when we purchase them, and then watch as they transform into something amazing. It really reminds me of what is possible in home renovations and allows me to see the potential in properties that others may pass over. I have one investor that calls me ‘Special Agent Florida’ and I must admit, I don’t mind at all!
How long have you been in real estate?
About 5-6 years now.
How long have you been with Boutique Realty?
2 wonderful years!
What do you love about being a real estate agent in St. Louis
I grew up in Lake St. Louis and lived in University City during college, so I’ve had the opportunity to see what is so great about the St. Louis suburbs and city living! I truly feel like we are the best city in the Midwest; I love Cardinals baseball, Blues hockey, St. Louis rhythm and blues, and even our delicious BBQ! We are such a diverse and vibrant city with so much to offer out-of-towners and it’s an honor to have a job where I can share my enthusiasm for St. Louis with new residents.
What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your resume alone?
I am a mother of SIX kids, yes half a dozen humans: almost a soccer team! We are a big, blended family and just welcomed twin girls, Lily & Charli, onto our team last year. There is never a dull moment in the Florida Casa!
What are you known for?
I would have to say I have an ‘offbeat’ lingo that I use in my real estate and I like to refer to it as ‘home slinging’ I enjoy making real estate both funny and fun and I am hoping that is my signature move.
What do you like to do for fun?
Yoga, play music, hike, travel (as much as I can with 6 kids), visit museums, and spend time with family and friends!
What was the last concert you went to?
That would be the Pixies at the Peabody Opera House. My husband proposed to me 4 years ago AT the Peabody – after the Pixies show ( i said yes!) – so it was extra special to be there with him after our twins were born and look back at how much our life and relationship has evolved in that short time. Plus, I have a life-long time obsession with Frank Black!
What is your favorite advice to give your clients?
Try to picture yourself in the home. Can you see yourself unwinding after work in this space? What about playing ball with your kids in the backyard? I believe we all have a gut feeling in searching for our family’s next address and I insist my clients go with their gut!
That’s our story, folks! We’re so happy that your journey from the sales world led you to us, Amy. Your personality and skills have helped grow Boutique Realty into who we are today, and we are so thankful to call you coworker and friend.
Here’s to Amy!
